An authority has commented on Melania Trump’s nonverbal cues in the moments after her husband Donald Trump’s inauguration as president-elect.
The outcome of the US election was anticipated only hours ago when projections indicated that Trump would win the crucial states of North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. However, it was his victory in Wisconsin that allowed him to surpass the 270-vote threshold.
At the campaign headquarters in West Palm Beach, Florida, Trump, who will become the 47th president of the United States in January 2025, walked to the stage to declare his victory after the Republican Party’s takeover of Pennsylvania on Wednesday morning (November 6).
“With every breath I have, I will fight for you every day,” he assured his followers. I will not stop working until we have given the kids of America the strong, secure, and rich country they deserve.
And it’s something you’re due. America is entering what promises to be its golden era. Those were close contests, and the amount of Senate wins was astounding.
Members of Trump’s family, including Melania, Barron, and Ivanka, made an appearance on stage with the president.
According to body language expert Judi James, who spoke to Paddy Power Games, Melania, 54, exuded an air of “confidence” and “power” when she and her husband shared the stage.
Just as he was about to take the stage, Trump stepped out to strike a pose, seeming somewhat taken aback. According to James, “his face seemed puckered in a moment of inner emotion” as his right fist softly struck the air.
“It was Melania, in a businesslike grey power suit and the towering Barron who flanked Trump exhibiting the body language signals of strength and support.”
The way Trump stood next to his wife, who was reportedly “promoted to a star in her own right,” sent a strong message that he “seeks support and strength,” as James put it.
“Trump’s gesticulation and touch rituals with her gave the impression that he seeks support and strength from her rather than the other way round,” according to the expert.
“In contrast to Trump, Melania was smiling widely, her cheeks curved with joy and pride, and her teeth showing in her smiles—both her upper and lower teeth.”
While Trump was praising Melania on her “number one best-selling book” in the US, the two even hugged on stage.
In an attempt to offer her a congrats embrace, he spun around to face her. There was a moment that seemed familiarly uncomfortable before Melania and her husband docked, during which she raised both of her hands in a show of solidarity.
When Melania put her arm over Trump’s back, it was the clearest indication of her “power and confidence,” according to James.
“Another telling sign of Melania’s authority and self-assurance was when she reached out to take a hold of Trump’s shoulder and guide him back to the podium,” she went on to say.
“A last indication of the changed power dynamic between Trump and Melania occurred when another man got on stage and Trump reached over to his wife, gently putting his fingers into her hand as a little child does when it needs reassurance from its mother.”
In January of 2025, Trump will be sworn into office, marking his second stint as president.
