In her recently published memoir, Cher: The Memoir, Part One, Cher makes the shocking admission that she broke off her virginity at the age of 14 in order to exact revenge on her older partner.
The 78-year-old music diva talked about how she dated a “cute” Italian high school senior in the early 1960s but chose to “loan her virginity” to him after he made fun of her in front of his friends.
She states: “A charming son who was a senior in high school lived with an Italian family on our street.” With my help, he worked on his hot rod on the weekends. After we kissed, he would come to my room and ask me to hold his other tool, but I would refuse. His black roadster was more appealing to me than his.
There was a lot of talk among the girls at school about how they spent their weekends playing with boys but never got to “fourth base,” so I wasn’t really thinking about sex at the time.
I thought everything was too informal, as if they were crossing everything off a list. I was tired of their euphemisms and told them, “You’re so childish,” because I was a sportsperson. Oh, you fools, you’re not playing baseball. You are engaging in sexual activity! I mean, Joe DiMaggio, who did they think they were?

When we were alone, the neighbor was pleasant enough, but as soon as his friends arrived, he would treat me like a shameful child.

When his friends suggested a trip to Bob’s Big Boy one day, Cher recalled being sent to an orphanage until his mother was granted custody again. He answered, “Okay, let me get Cher.” He left me when they chuckled and asked, “You’re going to take that kid?” He did that, and I had revenge sex with him because I was so wounded.
I would have complied with his request five hundred times, but I had never wanted to. I was so upset over getting fired, though, that I made the decision to give him my virginity if I didn’t lose.
Cher said that after the “massively overrated experience” was done, she fired the adolescent, writing: “I asked him, “Is that it? “Are we done?” “Go home and never come back,” I urged him. I wanted him to feel as disregarded as he had me. I didn’t talk to him again, despite his constant attempts to make things right.
“I told my friends back in school that the “thing” they were talking about all the time wasn’t a big deal and that they should keep kissing.”
Sadly, Cher has experienced many heartbreaks during her career, beginning with her first marriage to Sonny Bono, whom she met when she was just 16 and he was 27.
It didn’t take long for the two to fall in love, get married in 1964, and become a musical team called Sonny & Cher, which became one of the greatest acts ever and catapulted both of them into fame.
But as their careers took off, their relationship began to deteriorate behind the scenes. Cher subsequently said that Sonny “didn’t allow her to do anything except work” and that he didn’t offer her “any freedom” when they were at their most successful.
November 19 marked the release of the star’s much awaited memoir.

She also claimed that he had cheated on her and acknowledged that she had considered suicide at one point because of how horrible things had gotten.
When it was discovered during the divorce process that Cher controlled 95% of the money they had made together, while his lawyer held the remaining 5%, Cher suffered yet another setback. The two eventually separated in 1974.
Except for a broken heart, Cher had nothing left after their breakup, but she persisted and went on to become one of the most successful musicians of all time.
Her marriage to musician Gregg Allman ended because of his drug addiction, she had a brief affair with Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora, who allegedly cheated on her with a fan, and she had a brief affair with business mogul David Geffen, who came out as gay after they parted ways.
Gregg, a musician who played with the Allman Brothers Band, was the man Cher eventually left David for.
She and her then-boyfriend David went to one of Gregg’s shows at the Troubadour in Los Angeles, where they first met. They quickly fell in love.
He subsequently told Rolling Stone about the night they met, saying, “She smelled like I would imagine a mermaid would smell.”
Nevertheless, he called their first encounter a “disaster” as he “passed out in the bathroom, high on heroin.”
Despite this, the couple only chose to get married two months after they began dating, and on June 30, 1975, they were married at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
Due to Gregg’s drug use, however, things rapidly went wrong. He recalled to Rolling Stone: “There was one problem – she didn’t realize that I was a hop-head.”
I told her, “Look, I have something to tell you,” when I woke up one morning. I’m dependent on drugs. Her question was, “Well, how do you fix that?”
“Well…” was the only remark I could think of. “I know what we’ll do,” she stated. You may simply sleep through the large prescription for Quaaludes that I’ll get written for you by my medical acquaintance once we get to Los Angeles. It will all end when you wake up.
“I tried it—what the hell—but it obviously didn’t work.” Cher, however, was genuinely very happy that I had come clean to her about my addiction.
Despite their decision to file for divorce nine days into their marriage, their romance continued. A month after their reunion, they welcomed a son, Elijah Blue, into the world in 1976.
Two the Hard Way, their joint album, was also published in 1977. However, in 1979, following four years of dating, they formally parted ways.
“We experienced both positive and negative moments,” he remarked. “We were simply different in a lot of ways.” She isn’t a very good singer, so I was quite relieved that she never asked me what I thought of her performance.
In retrospect, I believe that even if I had to marry a friend, I was still looking for one. I truly adore ladies, which is the problem. I have always done so.
‘I just didn’t have the juice anymore,’ Cher said in a post-interview with People, speaking about her time with Gregg. He is the sweetest, most gentle, and most devoted father and spouse. He forgets, though, and everything goes to s***.
Since I never loved someone as much as I loved him, I still give a lot of thought to him. I no longer adore him, though.
Since late 2022, Cher and 38-year-old music producer Alexander “AE” Edwards have been together.
