The six visitors who have perished in the Southeast Asian nation include the women.
They have identified the two Danish visitors who died in Laos from suspected methanol poisoning.
The well-known tourist hamlet of Vang Vieng was the scene of a suspected mass poisoning earlier this week, with six international visitors confirmed dead.
British national Simone White, 28, Australian companions Holly Bowles and Bianca Jones, both 19, an unidentified American guy, and the two Danish women—who have since been identified—are among the dead.
Two ladies from Roskilde, Denmark, Anne-Sofie Orkild Coyman, 20, and Freja Vennervald Sorensen, 21, were slain, according to a MailOnline story.
An additional eleven foreign nationals are reportedly in the hospital at the moment.
Friends According to reports, Coyman and Sorensen were living at the Nana Backpackers hostel in Vang Vieng while backpacking throughout Southeast Asia before becoming unwell. Since then, local officials have detained the hostel’s manager and owner as part of an ongoing investigation into the fatalities.
One of the Belgian males who had previously agreed to meet up with the two women in Vang Vieng expressed concern for their best interests. Coyman and Sorensen had died after ‘vomiting blood for 13 hours’, according to a friend of the guy who would subsequently issue a terrifying warning to travelers in the region.
“The past few days I have been busy with a Belgian friend looking for two girls he travelled with,” the gentleman added.
They had decided to meet in Vang Vieng, but they were unable to communicate for more than 72 hours.
They both reported vomiting blood for 13 hours in their most recent communication, which was odd. Both have now passed away.
According to a local police report that The Sydney Morning Herald obtained, the two friends went to a number of clubs in the town on November 12 before heading back to their hostel at approximately midnight.
According to one reading of the paper, “until November 13, they slept in the room and did not go out.”
They were sent to Vang Vieng Hospital after the guest home personnel discovered [Coyman and Sorensen] unconscious on the bathroom floor when they went to check on them at 6 p.m. Their state at the time was a coma.
The Laotian government, meanwhile, declared in an official statement that they will bring the criminals “to justice” and offered their “deepest condolences” to the families of the six fatalities.
“The Government of the Lao PDR is profoundly saddened over the loss of lives of foreign tourists in Vangvieng District, Vientiane Province, and expresses its sincere sympathy and deepest condolences to the families of the deceased,” the statement continued.
“To determine the reasons behind the tragedy and to prosecute those responsible in line with the law, the Lao PDR government has been conducting investigations.
“The Government of the Lao PDR reaffirms that it always attaches importance and pays attention to the safety of both domestic and foreign tourists.”
