When her sleeping husband sexually assaults her children, a furious mother kills him by dousing him in boiling water.

Michael Baines, 80, was slain by Corinna Smith, 59, who doused him with hot water laced with sugar while he was asleep.

The incident reportedly occurred after Smith’s daughter informed her that Michael had sexually molested her and her brother when they were children. “Angry” and “fuming,”

Smith combined three bags of sugar in a garden pail with two kettles of boiling water. Then she proceeded to the bedroom below and covered the sleeping guy with the molten sugar.

The lady risked life in jail after being arrested for her activities. The sugar “made the liquid more viscous, thicker, and stickier,

So that it stays on the skin and causes greater damage, and that is exactly what it did,” according to the prosecution. Baines had 36% of his body burned.

He was first admitted to the critical care section of the Burns section at Whiston Hospital, and subsequently to the high dependency unit.

He had operations and skin grafts, but five weeks after the incident, on August 18, 2021, he died from his wounds. Smith’s daughter disclosed that Baines had sexually assaulted.

The siblings “for many years when they were children” on July 14, 2021. Craig, her brother, reportedly committed himself in 2007 when he was 25 years old.

Craig had a difficult past and even served time in jail for assault. He had confessed to his mother before he passed away that the victim of his attack was a pedophile.

Who had “touched him sexually.” Years later, Smith was able to make the connection between the events and discipline the guy herself.

Judge Amanda Yip, QC, told her in court, “You had a hard time processing things, but you connected the dots between what your daughter was telling you and what Craig had

Said the day before he passed away. It seems sense that you were so angry. You were said to be furious and angry at the idea of what had happened to your kids.

“Killing Mr. Baines also took away any opportunity for the allegations to be tested,” Judge Yip later said. Considering that everyone is innocent until proved guilty,

It denied him the right to a fair trial. The children of Mr. Baines have undoubtedly suffered much as a result of this. The accusations remain unsubstantiated.

During the jury trial, prosecutors argued that while she had a valid motive for her acts, she should still be punished since she caused her husband’s death.

“We are unable to determine the veracity of the accusations made against Michael Baines. However, it is not your problem.

In this instance since the prosecution acknowledges that these accusations were made and that Corinna Baines thought they were real.

When she injured Michael fatally. Smith told the court that her fury caused her to lose control, and she challenged manslaughter.

This argument, however, seemed weak in light of the attack’s preparation, which included filling the bucket with hot water and adding sugar for 13 minutes.

While it is clear that she would have been extremely upset and distressed by what she had heard, the evidence will show that.

She was in control and acted out of anger and to exact revenge for what she believed Michael had done, according to Mark Rhind, QC, who made the prosecution’s argument.

“We say that she is guilty of murder because she meant to kill Michael or seriously hurt him.” The court was also informed that Smith went to a neighbor after dumping boiling water and stated, “I think I killed him, I’ve hurt him really bad.”

The neighbor discovered Baines in pain as the skin on his hand and arm ripped off after phoning the police and paramedics.

I’m terribly burnt,” he told them. I’m completely scorched. She doused me with boiling water. All I want is to pass away. Smith didn’t aim to murder Baines on purpose, the court agreed.

She said, “I accept that I poured boiling water with sugar over Michael,” during a police interrogation. The whole event is quite blurry.

The minutes became into seconds. I wasn’t behaving out of retaliation; I simply lost it and became really emotional.
