A tour helicopter carrying a Spanish family, including three children, crashed into the Hudson River in New York City, killing all six persons on board.
Just off the tip of Lower Manhattan, nearer the New Jersey side of the Hudson River, the horrific disaster occurred at around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
According to officials, the victims include the pilot, three children, an adult relative, and a Spanish business leader.
One individual said that the struck aircraft made what sounded like a “sonic boom,” and others claimed to have seen the helicopter “split in half” before it crashed down close to Pier 40.
A local tour operator, New York Helicopter, flew the aircraft. Based on Flight Radar, the helicopter seemed to be a Bell 206L-4, or N216MH.
