This image clearly appears to be a mugshot, and for good reason. The man pictured is 53-year-old Sterling Rachwal, who has a long and troubling history involving mistreatment of animals.
Rachwal was convicted in 1993 for serious offenses involving inappropriate behavior toward horses. In 2010, he faced additional charges for similar actions.
Now, he’s in the spotlight again. A horse owner reportedly found one of their animals injured after seeing Rachwal flee the stable. Authorities say there is video evidence related to the incident.
Rachwal is currently being held on probable cause. While formal charges have not yet been filed, officials say he is likely to be charged with burglary, animal cruelty, and other related offenses.
