After earlier hiking China’s tariffs to 145 percent, Donald Trump has offered his opinion on what’seems reasonable’ to raise them to.

Trump referred to April 2 as “Liberation Day” for America shortly after taking the oath of office for a second term.

The POTUS announced a number of tariffs against nations worldwide, with China ultimately bearing the brunt of them.

Before the major announcement, Chinese commodities were already subject to 20% tariffs, which were later increased by 34%.

China’s response to the news was unsurprisingly negative; in addition to retaliating with duties of its own, the country also filed a case at the World Trade Organization, which prompted Trump to increase the penalties to 104%.

He subsequently raised duties to 145 percent for the majority of Chinese goods on April 9; some items now face an astounding 245 percent levy.
