A Minnesota father kills a 77-year-old sexual offender who was stalking his daughter with a moose antler.

A Minnesota man confessed to killing a sexual offender he thought had previously harassed his little daughter. A moose antler was allegedly used by the father to “finish off” the victim.

After accusing a 77-year-old convicted sex offender of following his little daughter, a Minnesota parent murdered the man with a shovel and a moose antler.

Levi Axtell, 27, was covered in blood and holding his head in his hands when he went into the sheriff’s office to confess to killing Lawrence Scully, who had been jailed for abusing.

A six-year-old child in 1979. Axtell, a resident of Cook County, Minnesota, had long accused Scully of parking his vehicle in areas frequented by children.

In 2018, Axtell asked for and was granted an order of protection against the elderly man, but it was subsequently revoked.

Scully was also admitted to a mental health institution in 2020, but was subsequently discharged and prescribed anti-psychotic medicine, according to court records.

Axtell repeatedly hit Scully in his flat with a shovel before “finishing him off” with a big moose antler, according to a criminal accusation filed on Friday. At one point, he is also said to have shattered.

The glass of Scully’s automobile. Axtell entered into Scully’s home at around 4:45 p.m. and struck him 15–20 times with a shovel he found on the victim’s porch, according to a criminal complaint.

Axtell allegedly used a large moose antler to complete the task, according to the complaint. It reads, “Defendant claimed he had known (Scully) for a long time and thought he had previously sexually.

Abused children.” “Defendant stated that he thought Scully would commit another crime after witnessing him parked in his car in areas where kids were present.”

A Cook County sheriff’s deputy found Scully inside the building at around 5 p.m. on Wednesday. He was “surrounded by blood,” had “major head trauma,” and was “obviously dead.”

The father approached the police station with his head in his hands and covered in blood as he confessed to the crime. A medical examiner found that Scully had self-defense wounds on his arms.

Both neighbors contacted 911 to report the crime after seeing a van arrive at Scully’s property, destroy a vehicle, and then drive away. The witness claimed to have heard screams.

Scully was incarcerated in Minnesota at the age of 33 for the molestation of a six-year-old kid. He entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 0–5 years in Bayport State Prison in Minnesota.

He remained incarcerated until December 31, 1981, when he submitted a post-conviction relief petition. The state had not shown any evidence that he would pose a danger to the public,

According to a hearing record. In 2014, he filed a petition to become the mayor of Grand Marais, Minnesota. However, by 2018, he was being accused of sexual assault with youngsters once again.

That year, Axtell claimed his kid was being followed and filed for a restraining order. He said in the petition that “they do not know each other.”

“The respondent tries to talk to the victim while waiting for her to go for walks from daycare.” He has often been there in his vehicle, stalking kids.

He was parked just next to the school, as I have seen. Since he is a convicted pedophile, his attempts to groom my daughter and stalk her are totally wrong and must end.

The motion was temporarily granted by Judge Michael Cuzzo, who prohibited Scully from going anywhere within six blocks of Axtell’s house.

Cuzzo then claimed that “the allegations are not proven true,” according to which a permanent injunction was rejected.

Axtell has only ever been arrested once, and that was for causing unlawful property damage. Sheriff Pat Eliasen said that Scully was the target of accusations, but an inquiry “didn’t uncover anything.”

According to a lady believed to be Axtell’s sister, the family had received a lot of support from the community and was preparing to launch an online fundraising drive to help with.

The inquiry on Saturday. On Facebook, Katrina Axtell commented, “I am overwhelmed by the amount of support I am seeing online right now in light of Wednesday’s tragedy.”

We often find ourselves unsure of how to help a community member who is experiencing a crisis. It’s simple to err on the side of quiet.

When words don’t seem like enough because you want to respect the privacy of the family. “I invite you to express your thoughts in favor of Levi and our family.”

“I hope that the families involved and the Cook County community at large can unite to support, listen, and heal together,” she said.

Scully was sent to a mental health facility in July 2020, but was freed the following year, according to court papers from Minnesota.
