Conor McGregor responded to Jake Paul’s criticism earlier today, and it’s safe to say that his response was humorous.
Paul, 27, defeated Mike Tyson, 58, in Arlington, Texas, on Friday, November 15, by unanimous decision.
The Dallas Cowboys stadium was crowded when he danced around the ring; some fans even bought $2 million tickets to watch the event.
Even though Tyson tried his hardest, his age showed as he found it difficult to keep up with Paul, who is 31 years younger.
Despite his best efforts, the former heavyweight champion was only able to land 18 punches in eight two-minute rounds, while Paul managed to land 78.
But it’s obvious that Paul is not satisfied with the resounding victory over the great boxer because he called out McGregor less than 24 hours after his victory in Texas.
It appears that the 27-year-old is eager to meet the former UFC double champion in a boxing/MMA crossover.
“Dear Conor, I know you told my team you would fight me at 170lbs,” Paul wrote in X.
“That will never take place. Let us, however, run it in MMA. No class of weight. The same way it was done before. But you won’t.
In August 2017, McGregor boxed Floyd Mayweather, so if he accepts the fight, it would not be his first time participating in a crossover match.
The Irishman’s response did not let the fans down as they waited for it.
“This guy is next for you, lad, Nakisi already called me,” McGregor posted on X.
“Best of luck, friend.”
The post included a picture of Mitch McConnell, an 82-year-old former Senate Republican leader. This was likely a jab at Paul’s involvement with a number of former or retired fighters, including Tyron Woodley, Anderson Silva, Ben Askren, and Nate Diaz, to mention a few.
McGregor has already removed his post.
According to the US Express, McGregor expressed his feelings on Paul in a live stream during the summer of 2024, sparking a long-running animosity between the two.
“I hope Mike [Tyson] rattles the little dope, no one gives an f— about him,” McGregor replied.
“How is that even in the f——Dallas stadium?”
At the press conference following the fight, Paul discussed his thoughts on a possible confrontation with the 36-year-old.
Paul clarified that Conor McGregor would never do that.
“He’s aware. He doesn’t manage himself. It’s simple to claim that Conor McGregor has no interest in facing Jake Paul, but the reality is f——.
I had no trouble working with Nate Diaz, so watch him go toe to toe with him. It resembled a Monday sparring match.
Even former UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou left the promotion to fight boxers Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, proving that crossover bouts are more common than they were decades before.
