In the 71-year history of Miss Universe, this is the first time a plus-sized competitor has competed. Miss Nepal, who is 22 years old, has made history by displaying her amazing body with confidence. In November 2023, Jane Dipika Garrett said she was pleasantly surprised by how far she had come in the tournament. “That’s also really taken a toll on my mental health and my self-esteem because I thought that I wasn’t good enough or that I wasn’t beautiful enough,” she said, referring to the huge weight increase she had lately experienced as a result of her illness.
Garrett, however, went through a process of developing a positive outlook and experiencing self-comfort. She has clearly completed this road of self-acceptance based on her bright confidence on stage.
