In the middle of the service, the child gently stood up, went to their mother’s coffin, and pressed their ear near it. Then, they turned to the other people there at the funeral and whispered one word that caused everyone FREEZE on the spot in the church.
Losing a parent is one of the most terrible situations a person can face, especially during early age, because it can leave a significant emotional imprint on the child’s upbringing. A snapshot from a funeral taking place in the Philippines has gone viral because of the saddest reason ever.
A young child’s mother died, and during the service, her young son climbed her coffin one last time and laid his head on it for a final embrace. The sight of such pure emotion from such a young child broke everyone’s hearts.
At one point, he turned to face the crowd and asked, “Why doesn’t Mommy sleep next to me anymore?” These words felt like a sharp knife; how can one answer such a difficult question and explain to a child that their mom will never return?
The child’s confusion and pain were reflected in the innocence of that question, and it was heartbreaking.
