Eva Longoria has decided to uproot her family from the “dystopian” United States.
Leaving behind what she called a “dystopian” America, the actress said in an interview with Marie Claire that she and her family have chosen to split their time between Mexico and Spain.
When Longoria reflected on her time in Los Angeles, she remarked, “I had my whole adult life here.”
But it was already evolving before to [the pandemic]. The atmosphere was different. Then COVID struck, pushing it completely over the edge. Whether it’s the taxes or the homelessness—not that I want to criticize California—it feels like this phase of my life is over.
Her reputation as a well-known Democrat may cause some people to take issue with her comments.
Longoria did voice worries about Donald Trump’s second term in government, though.
It’s going to be a scary world if he meets his promises, she said, adding, “I would like to think our fight continues.”
Luckily for Longoria, she won’t be residing in the United States to witness it for herself.
She acknowledged her luxury, saying, “I get to go somewhere and escape.” Most Americans are not that fortunate. My worry and sorrow are for them since they will be stranded in this dystopian nation.
But since then, Longoria has made it clear that Donald Trump had no influence on her choice to divide her time between Mexico and Spain.
Speaking on the podcast “The View: Behind the Table,” she cleared up misunderstandings resulting from a recent Marie Claire interview.
Longoria sought clarification from her friend Ana Navarro on the podcast call.
She said, “Will you kindly inform them that Trump was not the reason I left the United States?”
She was upset that certain media sources had misrepresented her remarks in “clickbait” headlines.
She said, “I’ve been working in Europe for almost three years, and people just grabbed some clickbait stuff to be divisive, which makes me so sad.” You just intend for whatever you say to cause division, but at this moment, that is not possible.
Along with her spouse, José Bastón, and their six-year-old kid, Santiago, Longoria resides overseas.
She recalled a previous comment made by Navarro about how living in Europe was like “shutting off the noise.”
Longoria concurred, stating: “Yes, I do think that being away from the never-ending 24-hour news cycle puts you in a sort of a bubble. This is the reason I’m in Europe. The political climate is not the reason I left. My job took me there, so I left.
As Ana Navarro was recording our “Behind The Table” episode, her friend Eva Longoria called her out of the blue to discuss the news reports that she had fled the US due to President-elect Trump’s victory.
