After selling one of her last homes after relocating permanently to the UK, Ellen DeGeneres severed all links with the US.
Four months ago, the 67-year-old former talk show presenter and her spouse, Portia de Rossi, moved to the English countryside after purchasing a vast farmhouse in the Cotswolds for $18 million.
DeGeneres sold her two-bedroom, two-bathroom Montecito, California house earlier this month. Previously, she had an extensive real estate portfolio in the US.
Four years after paying $2.9 million for the vast Cali home, Degeneres and the 52-year-old “Arrested Development” star listed it for $4,995,000 on March 10.
The 1,691-square-foot Spanish cottage sold for $5.2 million less than two weeks later.
After getting “multiple offers within two days of hitting the market,” a representative for the listing informed People that the house entered escrow on March 20.
The midcentury-modern house has “spa-like” baths, a private courtyard, a terrace, and a covered patio, according to the ad.
According to Architectural Digest, the pad, which was constructed in 1954 and renovated in 2012, was the third home the couple bought in a single year.
Only four months have passed since the couple, who were married in 2008, made the decision to move to England after President Trump’s election victory.
The couple paid an astounding $18 million, or $3 million more than the asking price, for a gorgeous farmhouse in the exclusive neighborhood of the United Kingdom.
However, things haven’t always been easy for the couple; they recently got into a spat with her British neighbors over an addition to her multimillion-dollar house.
It’s unclear why the couple chose the Cotswolds, but it’s a beautiful and affluent area of England, and many British celebrities own country homes there.
Jeremy Clarkson, Elizabeth Hurley, Kate Moss, and David and Victoria Beckham are among their famous neighbors.
Because Highgrove House in Gloucestershire is owned by King Charles and Queen Camilla, the region is also home to royalty.
