Actress Sharon Stone suffered another tragedy almost 18 months after the death of her nephew River, who had “total organ failure” at the age of 11 months. Her brother Patrick, who was 57 years old, passed away on Sunday morning in Pennsylvania after a heart attack.
Stone confirmed the news of her brother’s death on Monday on Instagram, where she also posted touching memorial images of the two of them.
Adding the comment “RIP my brother Patrick Joseph Stone,” the Basic Instinct actor shared her social media image.
Tasha, Patrick’s wife, also expressed her grief at her husband’s untimely passing on Instagram.
I feel as if someone has slashed the chords of my heart. At around 3:30 in the morning, Patrick departed to be with our lovely River.
“Three lovely children, whom he loved and cherished, were given to me,” she went on to say.
“He never missed an opportunity to tell me how much he cared for me and how important I was to him…” From the moment I laid eyes on him, I knew he was the one. For twenty years, we drove one other crazy but yet loved each other so completely; I felt an instant connection to him. Without my closest buddy, I don’t know what to do.
The fact that Patrick had a joyful final few days was the only solace, Tasha said.
Imagine if our almost perfect day was supposed to be cherished, so that whenever I think of him, I am filled with love and joy, and he could take comfort in the knowledge that he was deeply loved.
I still refuse to believe it, even if it is the reason for his demise. Even though twenty years is a long time, it wasn’t quite enough to fulfill my desire for an eternal bond with him. Together we were perfect. Through thick and thin, we always had each other.
When River passed away in 2011, just one month before his first birthday, Stone said that the knowledge that three lives were saved by his organs was the thing that comforted them the most throughout their mourning.
“Our family found sanctuary in the fact that my godson was able to save three lives—two infants and a 45-year-old man,” she told People at the time.
Being an organ donor saved our lives and the lives of our loved ones, but there’s no way to predict when tragedy may strike in your own life or in your family’s.
“A lot of people have a lot of different opinions on this, but ultimately, it brought us some serenity.”
Patrick, may you rest in peace. Your precious kid and you have been reunited.
