Nikkie thought her life was picture-perfect after being married for more than a year, but when her husband Jack began going to the gym regularly, things began to change. He was clearly growing more and more content with his appearance, so at first she was glad for him. However, as time went on, he became so fixated on it that he felt the need for Nikkie to change as well.
He would show her Instagram models who had ideal body proportions and tell her that he wished she had their appearance.
She felt less confident because he was always reminding her that she didn’t look like someone on a fashion magazine cover. She attempted to dismiss his suggestion that she would be getting breast implants.
The final straw came when he gave her money for breast implants and a note that said, “Time to upgrade those mosquito bites,” on her birthday.
Her entire world was shattered by these words. She became aware that he didn’t love her for who she was and that she had to alter herself to fit his expectations.
Nikkie grinned and murmured “thank you,” despite her tremendous pain, knowing deep down that she had to give him a lesson he would never forget.
She chose to use the money to beautify herself for her own wellbeing rather than grant her husband’s dying requests. She got a new haircut, bought some expensive clothes, went to the spa for a day, and treated herself to some facial treatments. She was happy to realize that she loved herself just the way she was before letting anyone alter her to fit their perverted ideal of what a woman ought to look like.
She changed all the locks and packed all of Jack’s possessions in boxes on the day of the alleged surgery. “Here’s your upgrade,” she wrote on the note and gave him an envelope containing the remaining funds. Locate a person who satisfies YOUR requirements.
Jack pleaded with her to give him another chance after realizing how intent Nikkie was on ending their relationship, but she was wise enough to avoid being with someone as shallow as him.
