Nothing gets the blood flowing quite like an impassioned performance of the Star-Spangled Banner.
A few years ago, Jackson Dean Nicholson was a senior defensive end at Arundel High School in Maryland. Anyone who witnessed his performance would agree.
We’re referring to his performance of the national anthem prior to the game, not his on-field performance. Over the years, it has not only amazed the local audience but also thousands of online users.

After learning that no one else was ready to sing the national anthem before his school’s game, Nicholson reportedly had to make a choice. He could have, of course, allowed the school to play a recording over the loud speakers, or he could have let the audience sing the song.
However, Nicholson appears to be a distinct breed. The high school student, armed only with an acoustic guitar and a microphone, stood by himself in the center of the field before the game began.
He then performed one of the greatest renditions of the American national anthem that we have ever heard, therefore it is not surprising that the video became a viral sensation and kept coming back to the top of the charts.
Nicholson’s vocal prowess is demonstrated by the fact that the video, which was first posted in 2018, is still as remarkable and relevant today.
It was really awesome. “I think I knew about 90% of the people in those stands, and they didn’t know I was doing it ’til I pulled out my guitar,” Nicholson told the Baltimore Sun at the time.

Although Nicholson may have been outfitted as a senior defensive end for his little moment in the spotlight, his real interest in life is music. He began writing and performing songs when he was a freshman, and at the time of his viral success, he was working on his own album.
Since Jack Nicholson is already a fairly well-known person, he prudently chose to go by Jackson Dean.
“This is my last year, then I’m done,” Jackson stated in 2018, looking back on his football career. All of my credits will be completed by January, and I just need to be enrolled for this semester. My principal granted me a waiver, and she loves what I do.
“I’ll give it my best.”
