After a beloved cosmetics artist who her friends dubbed the “Persian Cheryl Cole” passed away, tributes began to pour in.

Irene Roozbayani fought against stage four colon cancer before dying on November 7 at the age of 41. When Irene was five years old, she moved to South Shields, where she was frequently confused for Girls Aloud singer Cheryl (previously Cole). Her classmates even called her the Persian equivalent of the well-known pop diva.

Irene, who was born in Scotland to Iranian parents, developed a remarkable career for which she traveled the world and worked with celebrities like Vivienne Westwood.

After landing a position with MAC, she began working in makeup before focusing on the wedding market. At the same time that the highly respected international brand was growing, Irene left to work with Charlotte Tilbury at Fenwick in Newcastle.

“Irene always made you feel wonderful and treated you as if you were the only person in the room. “Everyone loved and adored her, and she loved children so much, giving them attention and putting some lip gloss on the little girls,” friend Helen Ganley told Chronicle Live.

“She was well-known, her name was a brand, and when people hired her, they were hiring her as a complete person rather than just makeup artist. Her kindness and humor made guests feel at ease on their special day, and she went above and beyond to make them feel at peace.

“She loved her job and cherished going to work,” Helena added, “and she would often arrive early to ensure she had time to talk to everyone. You always knew she would be late if you asked her to be somewhere at a specific time, even during our friendship, but you didn’t mind because it was just her.

“If she called, we could easily have hours of phone conversations since she was a devoted friend who was very perceptive and responsive. She was the best godmother a child could have, showering my daughter with gifts and love at her birth.

At the beginning of the year, courageous Irene was told she had stage four colon cancer. By the time she received her diagnosis, it had spread.

Irene had multiple rounds of chemotherapy after receiving the terrible prognosis, yet she persisted in her work because she didn’t want to disappoint her clients.

“When I first visited her in the hospital, we both looked at each other and just started crying,” Helena recounted after learning of her diagnosis. Throughout, she maintained a cheerful attitude and handled everything with grace. She is the most courageous person for handling it all.

“Her main concern was not upsetting anyone, therefore she was still making every effort to avoid disappointing them. Even at Marie Curie, where she spent eight days toward the end, she maintained her optimistic attitude, and the personnel treated her wonderfully.”

Yousef Rouzbayani, Irene’s father, continued: “Irene was a very giving and joyful person who always enjoyed making others laugh. She was adored by everyone and was quite gregarious, constantly introducing me to new friends she had acquired during her life.
