Following his son’s arrest for allegedly stabbing fellow 17-year-old Austin Metcalf at a track meet in Texas, Karmelo Anthony’s father has spoken out.
On Wednesday, April 2, Anthony and Metcalf were both at the track meet at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas, when a fight broke out. According to the Frisco Police Department,
The dispute “between two students resulted in one stabbing the other.” Hunter, Metcalf’s twin brother, was also there at the event and attempted to rescue his brother; nonetheless,
The teenager’s injuries ultimately led to his death. Following the confrontation, Frisco Centennial High School student Anthony was taken into custody by.
The police and accused of first-degree murder. At the time of writing (April 4), Anthony had been placed under arrest and no bail had been announced.
Andrew Anthony, Anthony’s father, has now defended his son, calling him a “good kid” who was provoked, in his own words. “Everyone has already made their assumptions about my son,
But he’s not what they’re making him out to be,” Andrew said in an interview with The New York Post. He is a decent young man. He has two jobs. He has a 3.7 GPA and is an A student.
In the confrontation that resulted in Metcalf’s death, Andrew continued, stating that Anthony “was not the aggressor” and that “he was not the one who started it.”
The father said, “Words cannot express how both [families] have been impacted by this tragedy, and I feel bad for the other parents and family.”
Hunter Metcalf said that he “didn’t see the stab” but called the incident “senseless” in a different interview with WFAA.
“I don’t know why a person would do that to someone, just over that little argument,” stated the man. According to Hunter, his brother requested Anthony.
To leave their school’s tent during the competition, which sparked the confrontation. This altercation occurred over ‘a seat’ inside the stadium, according to the New York Post.
Hunter stated of his brother, “I tried to help him,” adding that when he was being put into the ambulance, the doctors had to “yank” him off Metcalf.
The’most incredible child’ is how his mother, Meghan Metcalf, has characterized her 11th grader at Frisco Memorial High School.
“Very intelligent. College football players were interested in playing for him. She told WFAA, “He wanted to play in college.”
Following the meeting, the Frisco Independent School District issued a statement calling the occurrence a “unprecedented situation.” “Frisco ISD shares in the grief of everyone impacted by.
